DEWORMING: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Dogs and cats are natural hosts for several internal parasites. These parasites are most often referred to collectively as “worms.” Roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, and whipworms are the most common internal parasites in pets, and only tapeworms and roundworms can easily be observed in a pet’s stool. Kittens and puppies often have roundworms because they are passed from mother to offspring in utero and during nursing.

We diagnose parasite infestations by performing a complete physical examination and examining the patient’s feces using a microscope. This allows us to search for parasite eggs and, when necessary, determine what type of infestation is present. From there, we can prescribe a safe and effective dewormer.
