Digital x-ray is a powerful diagnostic tool that lets veterinarians peep deep inside patients’ bodies to assess injuries, search for signs of certain illnesses, and more. Also known as radiographs, x-rays are produced using small amounts of radiation. Digital x-ray equipment exposes pets to less radiation than traditional x-ray equipment, making it extremely safe. It’s even safe for pregnant females and young animals.
We use x-rays to examine ligaments and bones and diagnose injuries and certain diseases, like some types of bone cancer. This technology also enables us to assess the size, position, and shape of several organs, including the heart, lungs, and many others. We also use digital x-rays to monitor pregnancies, check for bladder stones, and diagnose osteoarthritis.
