SAME-DAY URGENT CARE

Same-day appointments available! We also accept walk-ins.

As a pet parent, you don’t want to think about your beloved companion getting sick or experiencing a serious injury. Unfortunately, these situations are common, and no family is immune. Any pet can get sick, and accidents can occur in just seconds — no matter how careful you are. And when these situations arise, it’s important to know where to turn. At Center Veterinary Clinic, we provide same-day urgent care for pets on a case-by-case basis. If your four-legged family member needs pet urgent care in Novato or the surrounding areas, reach out to us right away.

WHEN TO SEEK VETERINARY URGENT CARE

Distinguishing between situations that warrant urgent care and those that can wait for a regularly scheduled appointment isn’t always easy. If you ever think there’s even a slight chance that your pet may be suffering from a serious injury or illness, we encourage you to reach out to us as soon as possible. It’s best to err on the side of caution when something as important as your pet’s health is on the line.

There are also a few symptoms and situations that always warrant seeking urgent care from a skilled veterinarian. These include:

  • If your pet eats or comes in contact with a toxic substance (e.g., your dog eating chocolate or your cat taking a nibble of a Lilly or another toxic plant)
  • Wounds with uncontrolled bleeding
  • Repeated episodes of diarrhea/vomiting
  • Difficulty breathing/choking
  • Bleeding from any orifice
  • Injuries from falls, animal fights, car accidents, etc.
  • Crying out in pain
  • Unexplained extreme lethargy
  • Seizures or loss of consciousness
  • Hard, distended abdomen
  • Difficulty passing urine/stool
  • Blood in urine/stool
  • Complications during labor or delivery
  • Refusal to eat or drink for 24+ hours
  • Severe allergic reaction
